Counselling for stress
Stress can build up quietly over time. You might feel constantly under pressure, stretched too thin, or unable to properly switch off, even when things seem “fine” on the surface.
For many people, stress comes from juggling work, relationships, responsibilities, and expectations, often while trying to hold everything together without letting others see how hard it feels.
You might recognise yourself here
People I work with often describe stress as:
• feeling constantly busy or overwhelmed
• struggling to relax or enjoy downtime
• feeling tense, irritable, or exhausted
• difficulty sleeping or switching off mentally
• feeling like there’s always something else to deal with
• carrying a sense of pressure or responsibility for others
Stress doesn’t always come from one big event, it can be the gradual weight of everyday demands.
Stress isn't a failure to cope
Many people feel they should be able to manage stress on their own, especially if they’ve always been capable, reliable, or used to pushing through.
But ongoing stress can be a sign that there hasn’t been much space to slow down, reflect, or consider your own needs alongside everything else.
Counselling can offer time and space to understand what’s contributing to your stress and how it’s affecting you, without judgement or pressure to “fix” things quickly.
How counselling can help with stress
In our sessions, we’ll work at a pace that feels manageable for you. There’s no set agenda and no expectation to talk about anything before you’re ready.
Together, we might explore:
• what’s been contributing to your stress
• how stress shows up for you emotionally and physically
• patterns of responsibility, pressure, or expectation
• what support or change might feel helpful for you
My role is to offer a calm, thoughtful space where you can begin to feel less weighed down and more able to respond to life with steadiness.
What to expect
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly. I offer both in-person counselling in Bromley and online sessions. To find out more about how I work please click here.

Taking the next step
If stress has been affecting your life and you’re considering counselling, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
I offer a free 15-minute introductory call, which gives you a chance to ask questions and see whether working together feels right for you. There’s no obligation, just a conversation to help you decide what feels best.
