Counselling for Men in Bromley

You're probably good at holding things together

At work, with other people, in front of the world , you manage. You get things done. You don't make a fuss.

But privately, things feel different. Maybe stress has become the background noise of your life and you can't switch off. Maybe your temper is shorter than you'd like and it's starting to affect your relationships. Maybe anxiety is keeping you up at night, or you just have a persistent sense that something isn't right,  even if you couldn't easily explain what.

You've probably told yourself you should be able to sort it. That other people have it worse. That you'll deal with it when things calm down.

Why men in particular

Men are significantly less likely to seek help for their mental health than women , not because we struggle less, but because of how we've been taught to relate to struggle. Asking for help can feel like admitting weakness. Talking about what's going on inside can feel uncomfortable or pointless. Being vulnerable can be scary as it's something we've never done.

Most of the men I work with arrived with some version of that reluctance. Some had never spoken to anyone about what was really going on. Others had tried before and found it wasn't the right fit.

I work in a way that takes that seriously. . We focus on what's actually happening for you and what you can do about it, not just processing feelings for the sake of it.

Who I typically work with

My male clients tend to be between 25 and 55. Many work in demanding professional environments, law, finance, their own businesses, or skilled trades. What they often have in common is a gap between how capable they appear and how they actually feel.

The issues they bring vary. Stress and burnout from work that never really stops. Anger that's starting to affect people they care about. Anxiety that's grown quietly in the background. Relationship difficulties. A sense of being stuck or disconnected without fully knowing why.

Some have seen a counsellor before. Others are coming for the first time and aren't sure what to expect and may be sceptical. Both are completely fine.

Working with a male counsellor

I'm a male counsellor myself, and I'm aware that for some men that matters. There can be things that feel easier to talk about with another man, certain pressures, certain experiences, certain ways of thinking about yourself that don't need as much explaining.

In our sessions, I'm not going to tell you how you should feel or push you to open up before you're ready. What I will do is help you make sense of what's going on and figure out what to do about it.

What to expect

Sessions last 50 minutes. We meet in person in Bromley or online, whichever suits you better. Most people come weekly or fortnightly.

The first session is largely about understanding what's brought you here and what you're hoping to get from counselling. There's no pressure to have it all figured out. We go at your pace.

Getting in touch

The hardest part for most men is making the first contact. If you're not sure whether this is right for you, a free 15-minute call is the lowest-pressure way to find out. You can ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and decide from there with no obligation.
