Therapy for Men Who Look
Fine on the Outside
BACP-registered counselling and therapy for men in Bromley, Peckham, and online
Many of the men I work with are doing well on the outside, the career, the relationship, the answers other people expect of them.
What they don't have is anywhere to put what they're actually carrying. Quietly, things might be harder than they look. You may be sleeping badly, drinking more than you'd like, or shorter than you used to be with the people you love. What I love about this work is that really saying these things out loud, sometimes for the first time, can lead to significant change. The men I work with often haven't done therapy before. That's usually how it starts.
Why a practice focused on men?
Many men learn early to keep going, to not say much, to handle things on their own. That can serve you well, until it doesn't. The men I work with often arrive having held things together for a long time, with no obvious crisis, just a quiet sense that something has run out. What I find, again and again, is that men can really benefit from the chance to say what's actually going on, somewhere it won't be judged or carried home.
Who I work with
I work with men in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, usually professionals, often senior. They're the people others lean on, at work and at home. Many come because something specific has cracked. Many come because nothing has, and they've just realised they can't keep doing things the way they've been doing them.
You might recognise some of this:
-
You're functioning, but on autopilot
-
You're snapping at people you love
-
You're drinking, scrolling, or working more than you'd like
-
You feel like a fraud at work despite the evidence otherwise
-
You've lost touch with what you actually want
If any of this sounds familiar, please get in touch.
Why work with me
I'm Mark, a BACP-registered counsellor based in Bromley (BR1) and Peckham (SE15), with online sessions UK-wide.
Alongside my counselling practice I have a career in business, and I hold an MBA from the University of Glasgow. I understand the world my clients are navigating, and the kind of pressure that comes with it. I'm in my 50s. I came to therapy myself in my 40s, after years of holding things together, and that experience really shaped how I work today. Clients describe me as calm, and tell me I have a strong memory for the detail of what we've talked about, I'll often bring something back from a previous session when it matters.
